PETALING JAYA: It was a disappointing start for Malaysia when exponents R. Puvaneswaran and C. Maalani were eliminated in the quarter-finals of their respective categories in the karate competition of the Asian Martial Arts Games in Bangkok yesterday.
Doha Asian Games silver medallist Puvaneswaran lost 2-3 to Japan’s Ota Masahiko who went on to take the gold medal in the men’s kumite below 60kg.
