Indra to spearhead Kelantan strikeforce

PETALING JAYA: Indra Putra Mahayuddin (pic) will spearhead the Kelantan strike force in the Premier League next season.

The national striker, who previously featured for Super League sides Perak, Pahang and Selangor, sealed his move to the east coast side on Tuesday.

Azman Ibrahim, who heads the team management committee, said that the Kelantan FA (Kafa) were now virtually done with their registration of players.

“Indra is the among the last to put his name on the dotted line.

“We have registered 24 players and are looking for one more goalkeeper to fill the quota for the new season,” said Azman from Kota Baru yesterday.

Last month, Kafa president Tan Sri Annuar Musa named Englishman Peter Butler as the coach of the team.

Besides the 42-year-old former West Ham United midfielder, Kelantan also signed up former internationals Khalid Jamlus and Azlan Ahmad from Perak and national players Mohd Daudsu Jamaluddin from Johor FC and Mohd Norfarhan Mohd from Terengganu.

Azman said that Kafa had set an ambitious goal to win their first major silverware next season and Butler would also assume the post of team manager.

“We have to be well-equipped if we are to achieve the goal,” he said.
