Malaysia demolish young Sierra Leone side to sail into the semis


PETALING JAYA: Hosts Malay­sia booked their ticket into the semi-finals of the 40th Mer­deka Tourna­ment after thrashing Sierra Leonne 4-0 in a Group A match played at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya last night.

Malaysia, who also whipped Nepal 4-0 in the opening game on Wednesday, faced some early resistance from the young African side before getting their goals through Indra Putra Mahayuddin in the 66th minute, Mohd Safee Sali (72nd) and twins Mohd Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak and Zaquan Adha in the 77th and 90th minutes respectively.
