Swimmer Daniel and lifter Amirul set national marks

SWIMMER Daniel Bego capped his Olympic debut with a new national record in the men’s 200m freestyle at the National Aquatics Centre last night.

Swimming in Heat 3, Daniel finished sixth fastest in 1:50.92 to improve on his national mark of 1:51.05 set at Sukma (Malaysia Games) in Terengganu two months ago. The effort gave him 44th place in a field of 58 swimmers.
