THESE are acrimonious days in Malaysian sports. Just a month or so ago, there was the Manchester United story. The English giants were to come here for a friendly but the AFC, organisers of the Asian Cup, put their foot down with a flat “no”.  

Manchester United, the Malaysian government and the many proponents of the game had to capitulate because the AFC were right. But they are not always right. Now, the AFC are stuck in other, albeit less caustic, fights.
