KUALA LUMPUR: The National Sports Council (NSC), together with the Malaysian Amateur Athletics Union (MAAU), have identified 86 track and field athletes to be placed under the Korat SEA Games, Beijing Olympics and 2010 Commonwealth Games programmes after both parties held their first committee meeting for athletes’ preparation yesterday.
NSC deputy director Datuk Zolkples Embong said that the 86 athletes would be categorised into three groups – elite athletes who can qualify to the 2008 Olympics Games, potential medal winners and back-up squad for the 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2012 Olympics.
