PETALING JAYA: The Indonesian men's doubles pair of Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan prevented a clean sweep by the Chinese in the US$250,000 China Open in Guangzhou yesterday.
Markis-Hendra broke the hearts of the local fans when they stunned world champions Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng with a sensational 21-16, 21-16 victory in the final.

It was the second Open title for the young Indonesian pair this year. The world number nine defeated Malaysian veterans Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah in the final of the Hong Kong Open last month.
Their other career wins were recorded last year at the Indonesian Open and Asian Championships.
With their good showings this year, Markis-Hendra have certainly placed themselves as strong contenders for a medal in the Doha Asian Games in December.
In the men's singles, Chen Hong upstaged his younger compatriot, Bao Chunlai 21-17, 21-19 to claim the title.
