Davydenko survives, Robredo falls in Sopot


SOPOT (Poland): Top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko needed eight match points to beat Juan Monaco of Argentina 7-5, 6-7 (7-9), 6-1 in the second round of the Prokom Open on Thursday. 

Trying to finish off a match suspended by rain from the night before at 7-5, 3-2, Davydenko squandered four match points in the second-set tiebreaker, and used up four more in the final game. The Russian gathered 23 break points and took only six.
