OOI Shi Jia was nervous about taking part in the first event of the Sukma wushu competition, which began yesterday at the Dewan Modenas in the Kriss Sports Complex in Gurun.
But at 10.30am, the lanky Shi Jia, who scored 1A and 3Bs in the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) made hosts Kedah proud by delivering the first gold medal of the 2006 Games.
