VIENNA: Austria and Switzerland will build on the unprecedented security measures used at last year's European Championships when they co-host the Euro 2008 tournament.
Officials outlining their security plan yesterday said it would include elements of Portugal's strategy, which included deploying more than 20,000 security guards, patrolling the skies with NATO AWACS aircraft and extending the working hours of local courts.
