KUALA LUMPUR: National doubles shuttler Lee Wan Wah did not get what he was aiming for with Choong Tan Fook in the All-England championships four years ago. But he returned home with a contact that will end in a love match.

Wan Wah got to know a Malaysian student, May Han, on the sidelines of the competition in Birmingham. And the 29-year-old Wan Wah is now ready to walk down the aisles with her at the end of the year.

The 26-year-old May also hails from the same hometown as Wan Wah – Ipoh.

“She was a nursing student in England and a friend introduced me to her. We remained friends and it was only much later that we became closer,” said Wan Wah, who has been with the national team for almost 10 years.

Wan Wah is planning to have a wedding dinner for friends in Kuala Lumpur after the Manila SEA Games in December. The wedding ceremony is set for the following month in Ipoh.
