Trio ruled out of Johor FC’s home game

JOHOR BARU: Premier League club side Johor FC, the surprise Group D leaders in the Malaysia Cup competition, will be without three key players when they complete their first round fixtures with a home match against Malacca Telekom at the JCorp Stadium in Pasir Gudang tonight.

First choice goalkeeper G. Jeevanathan is kayoed by a hamstring injury while Australian striker Tayfun Ulvi Devrimol and rightback Hasnawi Ismail, who is on loan from Johor, are both suspended after two bookings.

Johor FC secretary Tahir Hamdan said the absence of the trio would be felt.

“On paper, Telekom will start as favourites. Johor FC are still a Premier League side while Telekom have earned promotion to the Super League next season.

This gives them the edge,” said Tahir.

Matches between the two teams have been close.

In the Premier League, Johor FC beat Telekom 3-1 away and 1-0 at home while another home match ended in a 0-1 defeat.
