JOHOR BARU: Beryno Wong's gallant run in the 100PLUS Power National Junior Badminton Circuit Grand Finals at the Johor BA Hall in Larkin came to an end in the boys' Under-18 final yesterday.

The Sabahan, who upset Bukit Jalil Sports School's (BJSS) Liew Daren in the semi-finals on Tuesday, was beaten 15-10, 15-13 by another BJSS shuttler Chong Wei Feng.

This is the second time in the tournament that the Kedah-born Wei Feng has defeated Beryno. Wei Feng won 15-9, 15-12 in an earlier group match.

Wei Feng's win was just one of 11 the BJSS shuttlers claimed in the 16 finals.

Julia Wong Pei Xian was a big winner, capturing both the girls' Under-18 singles and doubles titles while Vivian Hoo Kah Mun (BJSS) emulated her senior teammate in the girls' Under-14 division.

Julia strolled through her singles final, thrashing schoolmate Yee Qui Hsiang 11-3, 11-2.

In the doubles, partnering Haw Chiou Hwee, they outplayed Chong Sook Chin-Yee Qui Hsiang, also of BJSS 15-6, 15-7.

Vivian, meanwhile, defeated teammate Tee Jing YI 11-4, 11-2 in the singles and then teamed up with Sannatasah Saniru to defeat Tiffany Chase Currier-Tee Jing Yi of BJSS 15-10, 15-12.

In the boys' Under-18 doubles, BBJS' Tan Boon Heong-Hoon Thien How thrashed teammates Chin Tze Seong-Goh Yin Jin 15-0, 15-12.
