PETALING JAYA: Argentine hotshot Juan Manuel Arostegui is back in the MPPJ line-up.
The former Under-23 international, who scored a total of 50 goals last season, including a hat-trick in MPPJ’s 3-0 win over Sabah in the Malaysia Cup final, is expected to arrive here on Tuesday.
MPPJ president Datuk Karim Munisar said yesterday that their prized signing, who had left MPPJ to try to find a team in Europe this season, would return. However, the former Boca Junior player will only be available for half the season only due to other commitments.
“We will discuss the terms of his contract when he arrives here,'' said Karim after witnessing the signing ceremony of new foreign striker Sasa Branezac, 27, from Serbia yesterday. Playmaker Bruno Sebastian Martelotto of Argentina has been retained for another season and their other new Argentine signing is midfielder Fabricio Francesni.
Karim said new striker Sasa, a former Yugoslav Under-21 international, had made a strong impression since his arrival this month and is expected to partner Arostegui in attack.
“He was excellent when we saw him in the friendly against Kelantan TNB recently. We won 5-0 and Sasa scored four goals,'' said Karim.
