JOHOR BARU: Sarawak have settled for Portuguese Fernando Manuel Co to team up with Ghanaian Robert Eshun in attack.
And that leaves a player from China to complete their foreign legion.
The nod for the 32-year-old Co followed the decision to hire Brazilian defender Rodrigo Anderson Silva two days ago. The 27-year-old Anderson passed a medical test yesterday.
Team administrator Abdillah Mail said that they had to forget about hiring Kim Grant, 31, after the former English Premier League player said that he needed at least a month to resolve some personal matters.
Grant, who is currently based in Belgium, wants to move his family back to England. The former Charlton Athletic player was impressive in Sarawak’s 2-1 win over Singapore League’s Woodlands Wellington in the republic on Wednesday.
“It is just too bad that we have to forget about Grant. We have settled for Fernando. If we can get the ITCs (International Transfer Certificates) for Rodrigo and Fernando, we will have a good side to face Sabah,” said Abdillah.
Sarawak will be away to Sabah in their opening Super League match tomorrow.
