Helicopter flies Haris to Kangar

BY ERIC SAMUEL

PETALING JAYA: A private helicopter chartered by a well wisher has solved the dilemma faced by Selangor MPPJ striker Haris Safwan Kamal.

The 20-year-old University Malaya (UM) first-year sports science student is scheduled to sit for his first semester final examinations from 3pm to 5pm today. His team MPPJ, who are already in Kangar, play Perlis in the Malaysia Cup second leg semi-final match at Stadium Utama in Kangar, Perlis at 8.45pm tonight.

It will take six hours to travel from UM to Kangar while a plane journey will only take Haris to the Alor Star Airport.

Earlier, MPPJ had asked permission from UM for Haris to sit for his exam in Kangar but the request was shot down.

Now, thanks to the well-wisher, a helicopter will pick Haris up from the UM campus and fly him to Kangar, a journey taking about an hour.

MPPJ have one foot into the Malaysia Cup final after the 3-1 win in the first-leg of the semi-final last Saturday.
