BANGKOK: Unbeaten China became the first team into the semi-finals at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) women’s World Cup qualifying tournament after an 11-0 demolition of Uzbekistan at Nakhonsawan Stadium, outside the Thai capital.
China, who have gained an automatic berth for the women’s World Cup despite losing the hosting rights to the United States over concerns due to SARS, rested key players including veteran midfielder Sun Wen to give squad players match practice.
