PETALING JAYA: Selangor believe they have found the right man to solve their goalscoring woes. He is English striker Jon Cullen, formerly of Sheffield United and teams like Hartlepool, Halifax, Peterborough and Darlington.
The Red Giants, however, are not going to rush into hiring the player. They would prefer to see the player prove his worth first.
“Based on the video which we received from the UK, Cullen is the kind of player we are looking for,” said Selangor FA secretary Hamidin Amin.
“However, just to make sure, we will put him through the paces and the decision will be known in a few days.”
At the moment, Selangor have one foreign import in Croatian defender Ivica Kulasevic.
The 30-year-old Cullen arrived yesterday, but will only take to the field today since the team were on a two-day leave for Hari Raya Aidiladha.
The Red Giants, who are not involved in any league matches this weekend, will play a friendly match tomorrow against Proton at the PKNS field at 5pm.
“This friendly will serve as a trial for Cullen. If he can fit into the coach’s plans and all goes well, he may get a chance to play in our next match.”
