JOHOR BARU: With the FA of Malaysia (FAM) rejecting their appeal to have Ghanaian Patron Akakpo play for them in this year's M-League, Terengganu are now on the hunt for another foreign player.
Although disappointed with the FAM's foreign players vetting committee's decision, Terengganu FA president Datuk Che Mat Jusoh said they would accept it with an open heart.
We have no choice but to turn our attention to others (foreign players) who are eligible to play in the M-League. I am not particular about where the player comes from as long as he has good footballing skills, said Che Mat from Kuala Terengganu.
The player must agree to our terms and conditions. We cannot simply pay high wages to the player ... he must fit our financial means.
The FAM rejected Akakpo because he has not served the one-year cooling off period imposed by the FAM on foreign players who have played in the M-League before. Akakpo played for Brunei in Premier II last year but was dropped by the oil-rich Sultanate because of injury.
Terengganu already have one foreigner on their payroll long serving Ghanaian Seidu Issifu.
