SEPANG: The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) management have urged spectators heading to the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia today to plan their journeys early to avoid crowd congestion.
The grounds outside the circuit turned into a massive waiting area after Friday’s first two practice sessions, with many fans stranded for hours as shuttle buses struggled to cope with the thousands trying to return to their cars at designated pick-up points.
The delays left many fans frustrated.
In response, SIC said measures were being taken to improve traffic flow and crowd management.
"The experience and safety of our fans remain our highest priority at Sepang International Circuit," SIC said in a statement yesterday.
"We recognise the challenges experienced by some fans travelling to and from the circuit yesterday (Friday), particularly during the evening departure period.
"We are working closely with our transport partners and relevant authorities to strengthen traffic, shuttle and crowd management arrangements.
"Fans attending the event are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and refer to the latest travel information on our official social media channels.
"When arriving and departing from the circuit, please follow the directions of officials and on-ground signage, as traffic arrangements may be adjusted based on conditions.
"We thank all fans for their patience and cooperation and look forward to welcoming everyone for an enjoyable and safe day at SIC."
