PETALING JAYA: National rider Hakim Danish Ramli is not letting the joy of his maiden Moto3 World Championship win distract him from his race at the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend.
The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough win at the Grand Prix of Czechia last week but he plans to stay focused in the 10th round of the championship at the TT Circuit Assen.
"The Czech Republic victory is now behind me and I need to reset for Assen," said Hakim.
"I need to do the same thing I did last week, which is to find the rhythm early on. I need to find speed and quickly understand the circuit and the bike.
"Assen is quite a challenging circuit as it features many high-speed corners and has a very technical layout, but I will make the most of every session and give it my all throughout the weekend."
Hakim’s win last week at the Brno Circuit saw him become the second Malaysian to win in the Moto3 World Championship after Khairul Idham Pawi's feat at the German Grand Prix in 2016.
He is now in seventh place in the championship standings with 73 points.
Assen is not an unfamiliar venue for Hakim as he had competed at the circuit during the Red Bull Rookies Cup last year.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Racing team manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin said it would be difficult to set a target for Hakim in Assen.
"I know Hakim has already won a race, but we need to remain patient if he does not achieve a strong result in the next few races," said Zulfahmi.
"Assen presents a new challenge. Although Hakim has raced at the circuit before, it’s relatively narrow and a technical track, which may not perfectly suit his riding style.
