Hakim Danish Ramli's wildcard debut cut short by technical issues at Sepang

SEPANG: Heartbreak for national rider Hakim Danish Ramli after his debut wildcard race in the Moto3 category ended early after he suffered a technical issue mid-race at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) on Sunday (Oct 26).

The 18-year-old Hakim started 12th on the grid after moving one spot due to the absence of newly-crowned Moto3 world champion Jose Antonio Rueda, who crashed into Noah Dettwiler on the sighting lap.

Hakim, racing for AEON Credit SIC Racing MSI team, managed to move up one spot to 11th during the race, but was forced to pull over to the side of the track after his KTM bike suffered a technical issue on the fifth lap.

Japan’s Taiyo Furusato took the race win ahead of Spaniards Angel Piqueras in second and Adrian Fernandez in third.

The setback on the home circuit won’t dampen Hakim’s spirit as the young rider has secured his seat for a full season in Moto3 next year with MSI Racing Team.
