Kasma gives mum perfect birthday gift with win in Terengganu

PETALING JAYA: Rider Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin (pic) gave his mother the perfect birthday present by winning Round 5 of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.

Kasma won the race at the Gong Badak Circuit in Terengganu, marking his second win this season after crossing the line with a time of 22:41.557s, while Ahmad Afif Amran settled for second with 22:41.591s.

Kasma’s teammate Danial Syahmi Ahmad Shahril completed the podium with his time of 22:43.358s.

Starting the race in second place, Kasma’s charge was halted just after three laps as a crash between Mohd Idil Fitri Mahadi and Mohd Akid Aziz brought out the red flag.

With the race restarted with a 10-lap sprint, Kasma trailed behind Afif, and on lap 12, the eventual race winner found his rhythm and clocked the fastest lap of the race at 48.854s.

The 24-year-old dedicated his win to his mother.

“It’s my mother’s birthday and I really wanted to gift her a win. Thankfully, I managed to fulfil that wish,” said Kasma.

“The race was very intense. I admit there was contact, but that’s part of racing. If you want to win, you have to give it your all.

“I’m truly grateful to achieve what I aimed for here in Terengganu.

“There’s still a long way to go this season, so I’ll stay focused to maintain this momentum and go for more victories,” he said.
