PETALING JAYA: Rider Ahmad Afif Amran (pic) of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha - CKJ Racing has clinched his third win in the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.
Afif won round four of the championship at the Teluk Intan Mini Stadium in Perak after crossing the line with a time of 16:12.922s, with teammate Mohd Akid Aziz second in 16:14.009s.
Nazirul Izzat Mohd Bahauddin of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor rounded off the podium with a time of 16:31.402s.
Afif began showing his pace early in the second lap, overtaking Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin to lead the race, with Akid close behind.
Lap six saw Kasma crash and end his podium hopes, while Afif and Akid continued to extend their lead, pulling nearly 10 seconds ahead of the second group.
“I wasn’t targeting anyone this week except Kasma and Azroy (Hakeem Anuar),” said Afif.
“If my teammate is fast, I’m grateful because we can work together to push forward. I expected Kasma to be faster.
“In the race, we made a big decision to change the suspension and sprocket set-up. Thankfully, our strategy worked and I managed to cross the line first.”
