PETALING JAYA: The 2024 supermoto racing season kicks off with Round 1 of the 2024 MSF Supermoto Series at the Tangkak Circuit in Johor this weekend.
This will mark the fourth year the series is being organised. Round 1 is expected to attract almost 40 riders on board 450cc four-stroke machines competing in five classes of racing - Rookie, Evo, Advanced, All Stars Legends and All Stars Pro.
Round 2 will be held at the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Racing Circuit from Aug 3-4 followed by Round 3 (Sept 21-22) and the finale (Nov 16-17 November) with the venues to be decided later.
“Interest in supermoto racing has been gradually increasing, especially so in attracting new and young riders, many of whom use this platform as one of the important disciplines to train and enhance their riding skills before going on to compete in the higher levels of motorcycle racing,” said MSF Supermoto principal Adian Yein Khalid.
“We had the privilege of hosting a number of riders, for example the likes of Hakim Danish, who now competes in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in Europe. The competition has been intense in all five classes of racing with even participants from Singapore and we expect this to grow exponentially this season with the presence of new as well as experienced riders.”
Among the contenders to look out for is two-time All Stars Legends champion Eric Chia and the Singaporean is returning to seek his third consecutive title.
The Series may also welcome back All Stars Pro champion Ibrahim Norrodin, Rookie champion Hervin Gyanasegran, Advanced champion Azizul Khairy and Evo champion Muhamat Hairy.
HI-REV racing will also be fielding Lee Yi Loong in the All Stars Legend class; Marcus Lee and Reyco Chai in the Evo class with its only female rider representative Nor Shamira Azahar in the Rookie class.
