PETALING JAYA: Irfan Haykhal Amidi of Honda KC Racing team will continue his battle in Round 9 of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championship in the CP125 category at the Sepang International Circuit (South) this weekend.
For a rookie in the category, Irfan has definitely faced a lot of hurdles.
In his first two races, he even failed to cross the finish line.
Although he made it to the podium (third) in Round 3, he was further dismayed when he failed to obtain any points in the next round.
However, Irfan was not one to give up easily and he finally made it to the top of the podium in Round 8 at Tangkak Circuit in Johor in September.
Irfan is currently in eighth spot with 57 points.
The opportunity to take a leap to the top five overall may not be in the books for him this season but he has definitely proved his worth alongside some of the best riders.
“In the beginning, it was tough for me to handle my machine in the CP125 category as I was not able to identify my compatibility with the machine.
“This year, it is all about finding the right tuning and to get the experience to become a better rider in the category.
“For the coming round, I will have to fine tune the set-up of the machine so that I would get a chance at the podium.
“For now, fighting for the overall champion is almost impossible but having said that, this year would be my year of learning from experience and lessons, which I will bring forth to the coming season.”
