PETALING JAYA: Mohd Syamil Amsyar Mohd Iffende of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha 31 Racing has blazed the track in the last seven rounds and is eyeing for more in Round 8 of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship in Tangkak, Johor, today.
Syamil has made heads turn after romping to a hattrick in the first three rounds of the Wira KBS category.
He extended his success to visit the podium five times this season, including another win in Round 6 at Sepang last month.
It was only in Round 4 (Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu) and Round 5 (Jempol, Negri Sembilan) that Syamil failed to take a step on the podium due to lack of training and the opportunity to strike.
Syamil, who is leading the overall standings with 138 points, wants to continue doing well to rein in the title.
“My team have worked hard to ensure that the set-up of the machine complements the strategies that we have planned,” he said.
“For this round, I’m preparing myself with fitness training to ensure that my physical strength will be on par with the needs of racing at the Tangkak circuit.
“It’s definitely stressful racing with teammates who are equally good as well as with riders from other teams who are constantly striving to get a spot on the podium.
“However, I will do my best to make sure that I’m able to collect as many points as possible.”
