PETALING JAYA: Azroy Hakeem Anuar’s misfortune has turned out to be a blessing for Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin in the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.
Yesterday, Kasma of PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor claimed victory in Round 7 of the CP150 category after clocking in fastest at 16:12.434 at the Terengganu circuit.
The race began with Ahmad Afif Amran at pole position, followed by Azroy at second and Kasma third.
Afif was leading throughout the first eight laps until Azroy overtook him at the ninth.
Kasma, who was at P3, stayed calm and focused on closing the gaps and got his break to overtake both after the 17th lap but Azroy’s crash put paid to his hopes of reclaiming the lead.
The 21-year-old Kasma was glad with his error-free race yesterday.
“I tried as much to reduce mistakes and control my pace,” he said.
“Several other riders made mistakes throughout the race which opened up opportunities for me to strike. I stayed focused and maintained my momentum throughout.”
