PETALING JAYA: Newcomer Abdullah Qayyum Abdul Razak of Onexox Racing Team wants to keep on pushing to reach the top after making a breakthrough in the PETRONAS Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.
Qayyum made the podium in the CP125 category for the first time when he finished second in Round 6 at the Sepang International Circuit earlier this month. And now he is eyeing the top spot in the next round in Terengganu this weekend.
Qayyum has shown vast improvements this year.
In the first five rounds, Qayyum had been striding alongside some of the best names in the category but was unfortunate not to claim podium.
His luck changed in Sepang. He showed maturity and rode consistently to finish behind Honda Yuzy Idemitsu’s Azroy Anuar.
Qayyum has now moved up four places to fourth in the overall standings with 54 points in the 10-race championship.
“I performed well in Round 6 based on my experiences in the previous rounds. I planned and avoided rushing too fast into things,” he said.
“With Onexox Racing Team, I have gained knowledge and learnt valuable lessons from my more experienced seniors. They taught me about good riding skills and the tricks in fighting a good fight.”
“The Terengganu circuit is quite technical but I will give my best again and hope for a better podium finish.”
