Azroy shows he’s made of sterner stuff after crash

PETALING JAYA: A crash did not stop Azroy Hakeem Anuar (pic) from setting a new lap time and topping the qualifying session of the CP150 category in Round 5 of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Champion-ship.

The Honda Yuzy Idemitsu rider grabbed the chance to mark his territory with a new time of 44.119s at the Jempol Circuit in Negri Sembilan.

Azroy revved his machine and managed to reach the maximum speed of 90.084kph.

However, in his haste, he crashed and was lucky not to end up with any serious injuries.

“The qualifying session went very well. The machine was in good condition,” said Azroy.

“At the beginning of the session, I went on full throttle and managed to set a new lap time.

“Unfortunately, I crashed as I failed to handle the bike. Thankfully, I can continue to race on.”

Having topped the qualifying session, Azroy will be attempting to improve on his previous outing in Round Four where he finished fourth.

The 22-year-old Azroy hopes to perform better in Round 5 and finish within the top three.

“For tomorrow’s (today’s) race, I will try to do better and hopefully, end up with a podium spot,” said Azroy.
