PETALING JAYA: Expect future hockey stars to emerge from SM Tunku Abdul Rahman (STAR).
On Sunday, the school showcased their potential by etching their name into history as the inaugural Super Schools Hockey (SSH) champions after a commanding 6-2 victory over SM Sains Raja Tun Azlan Shah in the final at the Tengku Abdullah Hockey Stadium in Bangi.
SM Tunku Abdul Rahman were outstanding in the title decider, with Mohd Danish Hakim being named the tournament’s most valuable player while Wafir Wajdie Burhanuddin walked away with the top goalscorer award (11 goals).

Despite finishing runners-up, SM Sains Raja Tun Azlan Shah had reason to celebrate as Mohd Aqil Nor Darna Yanto was named best goalkeeper of the tournament.
SM Sains Johor finished third, while SM Dato’ Abdul Razak came in fourth.
The final match day was graced by Kuala Lumpur Hockey Association president I. Vikneswaran, while Olympian R. Shankar received the SSH icon award in recognition of his contributions and services to Malaysian hockey.
Eight schools from across the country took part in the competition, which aims to usher in a new chapter for grassroots hockey and nurture the next generation of local talent.
The collaboration between Enervieve Sports and Staroba Hockey also ensured the matches received live broadcasts and media coverage, helping the tournament reach a wider audience.
