PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) have strengthened their partnership with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) with a five-year, RM25mil deal until 2030.

The sponsorship will see MHC receive RM5mil annually from TNB over the next five years, up from RM4mil a year between 2021 and 2025.

TNB chief executive officer Datuk Shamsul Ahmad said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the future of Malaysian hockey.

"We believe sports play an important role in shaping discipline, team spirit, and identity of the younger generation," he said during the partnership ceremony on Tuesday (May 12).

"Our support goes beyond corporate sponsorship — it is a long-term investment in youth development and the nation’s sporting future," he added.

Meanwhile, MHC president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said TNB’s support has been immense since coming on board two decades ago.

"MHC appreciate TNB’s continued commitment which has played a huge role in the development of hockey since 2006.

"Many of our successes and talent development achievements would not have been possible without TNB’s consistent support for the Malaysian hockey ecosystem," said Subahan.
