Malaysia topple eight-time winners Iran to lift Asia Cup for first time

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia scored a huge upset when they toppled world No. 3 Iran in an exciting final that went into shootout at the Indoor Asia Cup hockey tournament in Bangkok.

Malaysia, ranked 21st in the world, had led three times in regulation time only for Iran, to draw level and both teams were tied 4-4, needing a shootout to decide the winners.
