Malaysia through to Junior Hockey World Cup quarter-final

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian junior team have qualified for the quarter-final of the Junior Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, India.

The side led by coach Wallace Tan booked the spot after beating South Africa 4-3 in their final Group A encounter at the Kalinga Stadium on Saturday (Nov 27).

Malaysia's four goals came through Mohd Fahmi Khalid (29th minute), Mohd Kamarulzaman Kamaruddin (41st), Mohd Shamir Rizmi Shamsul (49th) and captain Mohd Akhimullah Anuar Esook (56th).

South Africa’s goals were scored by Jared Campbell (48th and 54th) and captain Guy Morgan (38th).

Malaysia will face either France or India in the quarter-final.
