Royal patronage elevates event

THE 11th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament united business leaders, golf enthusiasts, Mazda customers and members of the community for a meaningful day of sport and giving at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam, Selangor.

More than just a competition on the fairways and greens, the event served as a major fundraising initiative in support of the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF).

Since its inception, the MMF has remained committed to providing humanitarian aid and medical relief to underprivileged communities across Malaysia, while also supporting orphanages, elderly homes and welfare centres.

Under the esteemed Royal Patronage of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the 2025 edition marked a milestone moment.

His Royal Highness’ presence, alongside senior government leaders and corporate figures, underscored the power of unity in driving meaningful change.

The tournament attracted 200 participants and raised RM1.4mil, which will be channelled into MMF’s nationwide charitable programmes.

Beneficiaries this year included Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital’s TKPKMM (Penang), Persatuan Kebajikan Ahsana (Kuala Lumpur), and House of Love (Selangor).

Bermaz Auto Berhad’s executive chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Sri Ben Yeoh, emphasised the importance of sustained partnerships between businesses, government and civil society.

The presence of senior ministers and corporate leaders reinforced the tournament’s role as a platform for strategic philanthropy and long-term social investment.

And it left Yeoh to observe: “This tournament is more than a sporting event, it’s a testament to our responsibility to give back and build a culture of care and compassion in Malaysia.”

The MMF, founded in 2015, continues to provide subsidised haemodialysis treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease and has expanded its reach to support a wide range of charitable causes.

Operated entirely by volunteers, the fund ensures that 100% of the donations go directly to those in need.

Complementing its annual events, Bermaz Motor sustains MMF through the Mazda Privilege Card, which offers Mazda owners exclusive service discounts while contributing directly to charitable efforts.
