THE second edition of the CIMB Preferred Golf Series came to an enthralling end with the grand final at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, with top golf paraded and conducted amid great sportsmanship.
The event is one that sees CIMB engage with its top-tier customers across the country, and the participants compete in a golf tournament that is characterised by memorable camaraderie and outstanding prizes.
And this year again provided exciting entertainment amidst a sporting and friendly environment at four of the country’s leading venues.
The Mines Resort & Golf Club and Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in Selangor, Johor’s Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club and Penang Golf Club proved more than adequate golf destinations for the experiences laid out for the participants in a Texas Scramble System 36 tournament format.
This format ensured that each team of four had a chance to shine, fostering an inclusive and competitive spirit among both men and women.
The champion team comprised Tan Leng Hin, Cheong Knooi Beng and Ismail Bin Abdul Rahman, while Syed Yusof, Tan Tee Wei, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Bin Sulaiman and Ngor Kim Hock were runners-up.
In third place was the team made up of Mun Keen Nan, Wong Sim Pah, Toh Hong Chin and Toh Wei Han.
At KLGCC, Jonathan Law said: “I’m honoured to be at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in the grand final representing the southern region, despite being disappointed at missing out on winning it and missing on a lot of birdies. But it was a great experience with my flightmates, and I hope to join the event again next year.”
Raymond Cheng said: “I’m from the southern region team too, and what I can say about the experience of playing in the tournament is that it’s different and special. Everything was well prepared, and we were treated excellently.”
See Geok Kyim said: “It’s awesome to be a grand finalist of this tournament. It was my first time in it, and the highlight was that we played well, even if the putting was a bit tough.”
“It was well-organised,” said the lady, who for more than 30 years has been a client of CIMB Preferred, and added that the “personalised banking service we got from CIMB over the years has been good – CIMB has served us well.”
Syed said: “I was happy to be in the grand final and proud to play in this tournament. The course too was in good condition, and everything was laid out perfectly by CIMB Preferred.”
“To describe the event in one word, I would say the tournament was excellent,” he added.
Turning to his banking experiences, Syed added: “My experience with CIMB Preferred has been good – the product is good, the returns have been good, and I’ll continue with CIMB Preferred.”

The grand final winners were each rewarded with an Adelaide golf trip, inclusive of business-class flights to Australia, luxury accommodation, LIV Golf Adelaide Club 54 Hospitality tickets and a round of golf at one of Adelaide’s top courses.
The runners-up received a Tumi golf hardside two-wheel travel case, while third place was awarded Tumi luggage.
There was a Mercedes-Benz EOS 500 4Matic Electric car valued at RM648,888 offered as a hole-in-one prize.
Also enjoyed by the participants were complimentary valet services, therapeutic massages, and grooming services by Trufitt & Hill for men and professional hair styling for women.
The CIMB Preferred Golf Series grand final this year culminated with a celebratory prize-giving dinner, a string quartet performance, an instrumental jazz band and a performance by singer Jaclyn Victor.
