THE final day did not get better for golfer Ashley Lau.

She must have experienced one of the wildest back nine as she closed the last day action with a six-over 78 in the Olympic Games at Le Golf National yesterday.

The 24-year-old Sarawakian endured the misfortune of notching a quintuple bogey on par-four 13th hole before closing with a fine eagle on the par-five 18th hole.

Ashley’s back nine score of 42 has ruined her hopes of fighting to finish inside the top 40 in her first Olympics outing.

Ashley managed a total aggregate of 18-over 306 after four days of competition.

Two-time Olympic medalist Lydia Ko surged up the leaderboard on Friday with a round of four-under 68, grabbing a share of the lead with overnight leader Morgane Metraux (71) of Switzerland at nine-under 207.
