Charity game to raise funds for artistes

THIS year’s Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Jan 21, 2024, at Kota Seriemas Golf and Country Club in Negri Sembilan.

Karyawan, the main organisation representing Malaysian artistes, will be organising the tournament to raise funds for needy artistes.

Freddy Fernandez, Karyawan president said: “Just recently, we have had to provide assistance for well-known artistes who were facing difficulties and health issues, among them Rahim Maarof, Sheqal, Isma Aliff, and a few others who have since passed on, including the late Rohana Jalil, Datuk M. Daud Kilau, Ibnor Riza and Lewis Pragasam.

“We do not have any regular sources of funding and have to rely on fundraising projects like these (golf tournaments) that we carry out from time to time to ensure that we have enough funds to provide much-needed assistance to our artistes who are in need. We are hoping that sponsors will support this very noble cause.”

Explaining the sponsorship mechanisms, Fernandez said: “The title sponsor, or presenting sponsor, value is RM 50,000 and includes free golf for 16 players.

“A platinum sponsor weighs in with RM20,000 and gets three free flights (12 golfers), while a gold sponsor is worth RM10,000 and gets eight free slots.

“Similarly, a silver sponsor chips in with RM 5,000 and receives places for four golfers, while a hole sponsor, who pays RM 1,000, gets two golfers to play for free.”
