MIZUNO have launched their new teardrop T22 wedges that come with two new finishes and four grind options.

The Japanese equipment manufacturer founded in Osaka in 1906 and with more than five decades of refining the Grain Flow forging process in Hiroshima, have proudly unveiled wedges that have been crafted for great touch and feel around the green.

Mizuno’s T-Series has developed in collaboration with former world number one Luke Donald and the latest T22 wedges have been introduced with four different sole grinds for varying techniques and conditions.

The one-piece Grain Flow forged club from Mizuno’s facility in Hiroshima, where their irons have been produced since 1968, features a micro-layer of copper beneath the nickel chrome that delivers “extra control at impact.

“I see the T22 as a great balance between the ultra-classic looks of the older T7 and the performance traits of the T20,” says Mizuno Golf’s Chris Voshall. “We’ve managed to bevel the top-edge in a way to retain the performance of the T20’s tapered blade, but keep the more traditional look of the T7. Both models had a following for very different reasons.

“The new T22 wedges have a slightly more compact, ‘modified teardrop,’ profile with an extensively bevelled top-edge to make it appear thinner. The spin weighted blade design, created by tapering the upper portion of the blade, helps create more consistent spin and a more penetrating trajectory,” added Voshall.

“The HydroFlow Micro Grooves also deliver great wet weather performance as they’re laser etched to release moisture and reduce spin drop off, while the Quad Cut milled and loft-specific grooves are cut into Boron infused steel to offer a longer lifespan.”

The T22 wedges are available in two finishes – denim copper and satin chrome. The copper finish it will rust over time for “a look requested by many of the Mizuno Tour players”.

The T22 wedges are now locally available and come with a suggested retail price tag of RM799 a piece.
