THE Tourism Board of Selangor held its first corporate golf tournament at Danau Golf Club in Bangi, with a view to spreading
the sport.
Dubbed the Tourism Selangor Corporate Golf Tournament, the event had Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Amirudin Shari in attendance, along with 70 other participants, drawn from the tourism industry, developers and local authorities.
Petaling Jaya City Council’s Hisham Hussin emerged as the inaugural champion of the tournament, while Geoff McLaws of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators finished second. Adnan Ahmad of Koperasi Wawasan Malaysia Berhad took home the bronze trophy after finishing in third place.
Tourism Selangor event and tourism focus manager Faroul Mustaffa said in a statement: “The tournament is a great platform to network and strengthen existing relationships, and to entice and nurture any new relationships along the way.
“The tournament will help the organisers to improve the board’s signature tournament, the Selangor Masters scheduled for later this year.
“The State of Selangor through Tourism Selangor is committed to exploring opportunities and further leverage in the sports and golf tourism,” said the statement.
“The state has infrastructure that can help create an influx of local and international sports tourists into Selangor.“
