PETALING JAYA: Winger G. Pavithran (pic) believes the trust placed in him at Terengganu comes as a valuable opportunity to take the next step in his career as a promising young local player.
Pavithran joined the Turtles this season after moving from A1 Semi-Pro League side Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDTII), marking an important step in the 21-year-old’s career as he aims to take it to a higher level.
Having accumulated 271 minutes of playing time over six matches with Terengganu so far, Pavithran understands and wants to make the most of the opportunity given to him by head coach Nafuzi Zain.
He said experience playing in the semi-pro league provided exposure and lessons that helped him identify weaknesses.
“This journey has given me a lot of experience and valuable lessons. During my time with JDTII, I learned a great deal and improved in specific areas of my game.
“Being given the opportunity to be part of Terengganu’s first team is an important step in my career. I also have the opportunity to learn many things from my more experienced senior teammates.”
Pavithran added that within the highly competitive Turtles squad, each player has their own qualifications, which further motivates him to work harder and earn his place.
He hopes to be among the names of young local players who excel at the highest level of domestic football, and at the same time continue winning Nafuzi’s confidence.
“The competition within the team is healthy because every player has their own strengths.
“I know I need to continue working hard in training and learn from my teammates. I need to always be ready for every opportunity,” he said.
Terengganu are currently ninth in the Super League with five points. Their next match will see them host Brunei at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Nov 20.
