PETALING JAYA: Young left winger Daniesh Amirruddin had just 45 minutes to make an impact in his senior debut for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in their FA Cup round of 16, second leg match at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday.
And the 20-year-old hit the ground running, scoring the fifth and ninth goals of the night in his team’s 10-0 mauling of A1 Semi-Pro League side UM Damansara.
Daniesh was also part of a gang of five who hit braces in the double-figures win alongside Eddy Silvestre (5th, 80th minute), Juan Diego Molina Martinez (22nd, 48th), Stuart Wilkins (32nd, 76th), and Shahab Zahedi (77th, 90+1).
The Southern Tigers advanced to the quarter-finals 14-1 on aggregate.
Daniesh’s spirited cameo drew high praises from JDT coach Xisco Munoz.
“He was amazing. He has speed, good movement, and he reads the game well,” said Munoz in a post-match conference.
“But most importantly, he has a good personality and is willing to work hard to prove himself on the pitch.”
Daniesh, who is coming off the back of a Malaysia Games (Sukma) gold with Johor, where he was also the top scorer with six goals, did not appear out of thin air.
He was part of the JDT Academy and has been a major component of the team’s last two President’s Cup campaigns. Daniesh topped the goal-scoring charts in 2025 with 12 goals and currently leads with 11 goals as well.
“I’m sure this is just the start for him,” added Munoz.
Although his side’s attack was on full display, Munoz said he was most pleased that his side kept a clean sheet after allowing the league two side to score in the first leg.
JDT will next host sixth-placed Negri Sembilan in a Super League match tomorrow.
Negri were among the casualties of the FA Cup on Tuesday after they lost 3-4 on aggregate to Kelantan City.
Kuching City and Star City were the other victors of the night who continued their Cup journey into the last eight.
