More pace and power for Alor Setar- based team

PETALING JAYA: Star City have strengthened their attacking options with a flurry of signings, bringing in several players entering their peak years as they eye a strong push next season.

The Alor Setar-based Kedah outfit, under Australian coach Mehmet Durakovic, have moved for a group of wingers who impressed during their younger days in the Super League.

The club officially confirmed the signings of winger Mohd Syafik Ismail from Kelantan and Engku Nur Shakir Engku Yacob from Terengganu.

Photos shared by the club also suggest winger T. Saravanan (from Kelantan) and striker Syahmi Zamri (from Terengganu) have joined the ranks, although these moves have yet to be formally announced.

Star City have further bolstered their goalkeeping department with the capture of Hafizul Hakim, who was last on the books at Kuala Lumpur.

Syafik, a 26-year-old winger from Marang, Terengganu, joins the team after a spell with Kelantan.

Known for his blistering pace, he is expected to add width and directness to Star City’s attack.

Engku Shakir, 27, arrives with a growing reputation after a recent call-up to the national team, Harimau Malaya.

Standing at 1.75m, he is regarded as a clinical finisher with sharp movement in the final third, and the club believe he brings a winning mentality to the squad.
