PETALING JAYA: Going by the chances they created, Brunei were certainly left with a sore point after settling for a 1-1 home draw with Melaka in the Super League on Saturday.
And the Wasps’ coach Jamie McAllister (pic) admits they still lack the sting up front to finish off opportunities and win the game.
‘’We just could not get that second goal and kill the game when it mattered. We need to be more clinical in our finishing,’’ he said.
‘’Apart from that, I think we played well and in the first half we were excellent.’’
Syafiq Ahmad fired Brunei ahead in the 27th minute, but Melaka drew level via Ahmed Shamsaldin in the 53rd minute.
Brunei, who also drew their last three matches, are now seventh with 18 points, while Melaka lie second from bottom with 10 points.
McAllister, however, believes that his charges are doing better after a slow start to the season.
“I’m disappointed to settle for a point again, and I admit it’s frustrating. We deserve better going by our effort and performance but then again, it’s a result that shows how tough this league is.’’
Brunei will next meet Kuching in the Malaysia Cup quarter-final first leg on Saturday, while Melaka have Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) to contend with.
