PETALING JAYA: Selangor salvaged a point against Terengganu after they drew 1-1 at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Sunday (Feb 1).
The Turtles got the lead first before half-time when Brazilian playmaker Rainderson Da Costa scored from inside the penalty box in the 42nd minute.
In the second half, Selangor captain Faisal Halim was the hero for his team after he scored the equaliser in the 57th minute.
But the Red Giants’ new arrival, Hugo Boumous, who was brought in for the second half, was shown the red card in the 73rd minute after a hard tackle on Terengganu’s new import, Gervane Kastaneer.
Selangor had the opportunity to get ahead in injury time, but Chrigor Moraes’ attempt was denied by Terengganu goalkeeper Mohd Rahadiazli Rahalim.
Selangor are now second in the standings with 32 points, one point clear of Kuching in third.
Meanwhile, league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) continued their dominance by defeating Immigration 5-0 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
The Southern Tigers’ Joao Figueiredo scored first in the 21st minute, and in the second half, extended the lead after Immigration’s Vinicius Milani scored an own goal in the 59th minute.
JDT’s Bergson da Silva then kept the goals coming by scoring the third in the 60th minute, before Teto Martin made it four in the 66th.
Da Silva closed the curtains on the thrashing by scoring the fifth goal in added time as JDT remained unbeaten in the Super League after 16 matches and had 48 points.
Immigration is in ninth with 15 points, equal with Kelantan in 10th, but ahead on goal difference.
