PETALING JAYA: The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) have yet to fix a hearing date for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) appeal against FIFA’s sanctions over the mixed-heritage players controversy.

CAS media officer Vanessa Tracey said the parties involved were still in the process of exchanging written submissions.

“Given the high media interest, CAS will publish a short announcement once the hearing date is confirmed, on our website with answers to all relevant questions,” she said in an email to StarSport.

“At this stage, we are unable to share anything concerning the future formation of the arbitral panel.”

On Dec 8, FAM confirmed that they had officially submitted their intention to appeal to CAS following FIFA’s decision to suspend seven mixed-heritage players.

The national body had until Dec 18 to file its full written submission with the Switzerland-based arbitration body.

FIFA’s appeal committee, in its 63-page motivated decision released on Nov 18, upheld all sanctions imposed on FAM and the seven players, ruling that the use of falsified civil-status documents constituted a serious breach of football’s core principles.
