PETALING JAYA: Penang turned spoilers at the Sultan Mizan Stadium by beating hosts Terengganu 2-0 in a Super League match in Gong Badak on Saturday (Jan 3).
Veteran Ivorian striker Tchetche Kipre rolled back the years with a double, scoring in the 69th and 90th minutes.
Penang, led by Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail, had a torrid 2025 but starting the year with a win against the Turtles certainly puts them in good standing for the rest of the season.
Penang are now 10th in the league with 11 points from 13 matches, while Terengganu remain fifth with 18 points from 13 games
Meanwhile, in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei took down Police 3-1 at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium.
Striker Hakeme Yazid scored a brace, netting in the 46th and 87th minutes, while Australian striker Jordan Murray scored a beauty in the 63rd minute.
It was their fourth straight win in the league.
They remain seventh in the league with 17 points from 13 games. Police remain bottom of the standings with six points from 13 games.
