With more options, McAllister looks to get Wasps stinging

PETALING JAYA: Brunei have found their stride as the Super League reaches its midway point, and with new faces set to arrive in the new year, coach Jamie McAllister is looking forward to having a full squad to choose from.

After a rough start to the season, Brunei have been working their way up the standings as they sit in seventh place with four wins, and having a full squad to choose from is among the factors the club have been doing well.

“We’re midway through the season and we’re seventh. And we’ve got two new players coming in, which should help the squad,” said McAllister.

“It’s important that we keep everyone fit because having a full squad is going to play a big part in the second half of the season.”

Brunei, nicknamed the Wasps, took their third straight win after defeating Penang 2-0 last Tuesday, and McAllister said the players have been adjusting well to the toughness of the Super League.

“The last five games we’ve been excellent, really. The wins have been brilliant as well.

“The team just need to keep progressing and improving. It’s a tough league and every game is difficult, but the players are growing and have good spirits to go on.

“It’s always nice to get the wins and get that confidence in football. We’re always going to try and score goals and create chances.

“And the way I see it, we’ve been harder to beat in the last few games,” he said.

Brunei will be looking to keep their winning momentum going when they host Police on Saturday.
