PETALING JAYA: Three points were good for Selangor coach Christophe Gamel after their 3-1 win over Police, but he wished they had scored more goals at the Selayang Stadium on Tuesday.
The Red Giants’ win over the Cops was their fourth consecutive victory in the Super League, but Gamel was left frustrated after the final whistle blew.
“It was a good performance, we didn’t allow our opponents to develop much action,” said Gamel.
“But it’s just a little frustrating with the goals. Sure, I loved that we scored three, but we could have scored more.
“We always expect to score the maximum number of goals, but the condition of the pitch also proved a challenge for both teams.
“It was heavy, and there were some technical mistakes. So it wasn’t easy, but we had clear moments to score more.”
Selangor’s first two goals came from Chrigor Moraes in the 21st and 49th minutes, after which Noor Al-Rawabdeh scored again in the 67th minute.
“Maybe the only regret is not getting more goals, but otherwise the team’s performance was good,” said Gamel.
He added that the team will be hoping to bring in new faces when the transfer window opens next month, and is also keeping his fingers crossed that injured players will be fit to return soon.
“Yes, we are looking at some players at the moment. There are a few players who are not in the team right now, so we need some replacements.
“But it is important that we bring in players with good profiles into this organisation.
“If we want to be good and go far, then we need to take into account the profile of the players who we take in.
“But the priority will be looking at forwards and also players on the side. I would also like more options in the midfield,” said Gamel.
Selangor are currently fourth in the Super League with 22 points, while Police have only six points and are at the bottom.
