FAM rejects Selangor appeal

PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Appeals Committee have rejected Selangor appeal against the sanctions imposed on the club regarding supporter misconduct and hosting failures.

In a statement on Wednesday, FAM confirmed that the decision was reached during the committee's first special meeting for the 2025-2029 term.

Consequently, the punishment originally handed down by the Disciplinary Committee stands and Selangor must serve a two-match stadium ban, meaning their next two FA Cup home games will be played behind closed doors.

This includes the crucial semi-final second leg against Sabah, scheduled for Nov 30, as well as the Red Giants’s first home match of the following FA Cup match, next season.

The RM100,000 fine imposed on the club also stays in effect.

The sanctions stem from incidents that occurred during the FA Cup quarter-final second leg against Negri Sembilan at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya on Oct 29.

Selangor was found to have failed in its obligations to control spectator behaviour and meet hosting requirements.

The committee detailed that Selangor faced five charges in total.
